From a WSJ article about getting rejected from your first choice college:

With the exception of health problems, he says, setbacks teach "lessons that carry you along. You learn that a temporary defeat is not a permanent one. In the end, it can be an opportunity."
Of course, you'd also expect that a man with a net worth several hundred thousand times that of your average citizen would have been more likely to have crushing events turn out well for him in the end.
